A Simple and Practical Device for Wet Elutriation of Sediments: RESEARCH METHODS PAPERS

Jorge Kazuo Yamamoto

ABSTRACT

This paper presents a simple device for wet elutriation of sediments. This device was designed to separate sand from silt and clay in a single operation. Moreover, the simple elutriator has been successfully used to remove salts from beach sands before sieving. The simple elutriator made with a glass funnel presents as main advantages its low cost, simple operation, and efficient and fast separation.
