ABSTRACT

Although the subsurface stratigraphy of the marine Lower Cretaceous strata has long been established in north-central Montana, southern Alberta and Saskatchewan, nomenclatural integration of this interval across the 49th Parallel is not commonly addressed. Outcrop and subsurface data (1) demonstrate an integrated history of depositional and erosional events in this portion of the Western Interior Cretaceous Sedimentary Basin, and (2) provide a stratigraphic framework for hydrocarbon exploration.
