Abstract
Pennsylvanian Horst Block Bandera County, Texas
Abstract
Recent water wells in the Tarpley area of south-central Bandera County, Texas have revealed shallow foreland Ellenburger tops beneath the Hosston Formation. These new wells, combined with earlier data, reveal a 5,100-foot horst block in the Tarpley area. The Ouachita Foldbelt was diverted around this high standing horst block. New outcrop data reveal basaltic intrusions associated with the bounding fault believed to be present about 4-miles east of Tarpley (Wilson). A Lower Cretaceous subcrop map and a 25-mile cross-section illustrate this new interpretation.
