Abstract: Evaluation of the Abnormally High and Low Pressured Morrow Formation, Oklahoma*

Donald P. Helander1

Abstract

Resistivity, transit time, and salinity behavior versus depth were studied with respect to the Morrow Formation in western Oklahoma. The trends observed, on all three of these pressure indicators, indicated the presence of abnormally high pressure throughout the Morrow area studied. This is surprising since pressures in the Morrow Formation actually range from abnormally high to normal to abnormally low pressure in the area studied. An explanation is presented for this “residual”, abnormally high pressure indication where none actually exists.
