Abstract
Magneto-Telluric Method Applied to Geothermal Prospecting*
Abstract
Experience has shown that geothermal fields are usually associated with strong resistivity
anomalies. Reservoir
resistivity
is a function of porosity, permeability and formational water salinity. In particular, increased temperature reduces
resistivity
. For example, a temperature increase of 100°C will reduce formation
resistivity
to one-fifth or even one-tenth, of its value. In many cases, increased temperature is accompanied by increased water salinity.
