The Geothermal Gradient Map of Southeast Asia - A Progress Report
Abstract
A geothermal gradient map of Southeast Asia is being prepared as a joint effort of the Southeast Asia Petroleum Exploration Society and the Indonesian Petroleum Association. This map is scheduled for publication in 1976.
The data for the map are being obtained from temperatures recorded during electric logging and testing operations on wells drilled for oil and gas. Corrections are applied to the electric log temperatures in order to approximate as closely as possible the true formation temperatures.
The map will be printed on a 1:5,000,000 scale base with a color code at control points to indicate geothermal gradient intervals of 0.5°F/100′. This will allow a visual impression of gross trends. The basic data used for the map will be presented in an accompanying booklet.
