Parsimonious Deconvolution
Abstract
Conventional deconvolution produces a glut of innovation impulses, most of which represent high frequency noise. Varimax deconvolution decreases the noise. More realistic estimated filters bτ and further noise reduction can be achieved by finding and using the filter which maximizes Σ xt2 fn xt2 subject to Σ xt2 = l where xt is the filter’s input and xt convolved with bτ is the observed fitter output.
