Bekok Reservoir Model Study

Chew Hai Hong, Abdul Hanif Hussein

Abstract

The Bekok fieldwide reservoir model is the first in a new generation of very large numerical models which are being developed as a reservoir management and planning tool for oil fields operated by Esso Production Malaysia Incorporated (EPMI). The major modelling effort for the Bekok field has resulted in a representative model which will be used on a continuous basis for on-going surveillance and evaluation of future operating strategies. This paper describes the development of geological models and a regional aquifer model used in the study, as well as the development of the Bekok model and its calibration. The paper also discusses the manner in which the Bekok model has been used to-date to gain a better understanding of the reservoir behavior.
