VSP Guided Reprocessing and Previous HitInversionNext Hit of Surface Previous HitSeismicNext Hit Previous HitDataNext Hit

R. Gir, Dominique Pajot, Serge Des Ligneris

Abstract

Surface Previous HitseismicNext Hit Previous HitdataNext Hit is usually processed in isolation Previous HitfromNext Hit either log or borehole Previous HitseismicNext Hit Previous HitdataNext Hit. As a result, there is often an inconsistency between these Previous HitdataNext Hit sets. To improve the quality of the surface Previous HitseismicNext Hit Previous HitdataNext Hit, VSP guided reprocessing is performed on an interactive workstation. This paper presents the method of residual reprocessing of surface Previous HitseismicNext Hit Previous HitdataNext Hit and application of the technique to Real Previous HitDataNext Hit Previous HitfromNext Hit offshore South-East-Asia.

In example 1, a weighted average phase rotation of 46 degrees has been Previous HitappliedNext Hit to the Previous HitseismicNext Hit Previous HitdataNext Hit to reconcile the surface Previous HitseismicNext Hit with logs and VSP Previous HitdataNext Hit at the well location. The gas/oil contact that was barely visible on the original Previous HitseismicNext Hit is better defined in the reprocessed Previous HitseismicNext Hit Previous HitdataNext Hit. Also, the oil/water contact is enhanced and its lateral continuity better defined.

In example 2, residual reprocessing using a 60 degree phase rotation is Previous HitappliedNext Hit to the Previous HitdataNext Hit to restore zero phase prior to 2- D Previous HitseismicNext Hit Previous HitinversionNext Hit processing. The validity of the results predicted by the Previous HitinversionNext Hit is proved by the agreement obtained away Previous HitfromNext Hit the reference well, between the Previous HitseismicNext Hit derived acoustic impedance traces and acoustic impedance logs Previous HitfromNext Hit two additional wells.
