M3/M1PQ-A Float-Over Decks
Abstract
The M3PQ-A and M1PQ-A integrated decks were successfully installed by the float-over method in open sea in August and October 1995. Both integrated decks were the largest ever built in Asia and the first in the region to be installed by this method. The float-over concept is seen as a viable alternative to heavy lift for the installation of large integrated decks in mild wave conditions. This article highlights key factors in the concept selection and float-over design, as well as the offshore installation.
