On Site Disposal of Drilling Waste Via Annular Injection
Ari Nugroho,
M. Andi Solihin
Abstract
This paper shows in systematic way, the current practice of handling waste mud, its advantage and disadvantage, basic concept of annular injection, well planning, water aquifers, type of formation, etc. The study shows that drilling waste annular injection is possible, cost effective and it minimize environmental impact. However the annular injection must be planned very carefully otherwise it can possibly create damage to the wellbore and a potential impact to the environment. Shallow injection point requires more study on account of water aquifers and the distance to surface. This paper has objectives to develop environmental control technology particularly in oilfield drilling operation.
