Abstract: High Resolution 3D Seismic Imaging in Practice — Jasmine Oil Field, Thailand

Charles Ramsden1

Abstract

A recent high-resolution 3D seismic survey over the Jasmine Oil Field, offshore Thailand demonstrates that a pursuit of 2D symmetric sampling principles, complemented by high-density streamer acquisition, a compact source array, and shallow source and streamer towing, can yield comparable temporal resolution to 2D site survey data. The high spatial continuity of the new 3D data provides the optimal platform for a tailored high-resolution processing sequence. The resultant data set yields a good tie between the well and seismic data, individual stacked sand bodies can be delineated and the complex en echelon fault pattern in the area can be well resolved.
