Farm-in Opportunity: Rangkas Block, Onshore West-Java, Indonesia
Abstract
Lundin Rangkas B.V. is the operator and 100% equity holder in the Rangkas Block, onshore West Java, Indonesia. The block covers 3977 km2 and is in close proximity to the energy markets of Jakarta and Cilegon. An active petroleum system is proven within the block as evidenced by numerous confirmed oil seeps and oil shows from wells within the block. The main objectives include the Eocene-Oligocene Ciletuh and Bayah sandstones. The Miocene Saraweh and Parigi carbonates are secondary objectives.
Structural traps consist of flower structures and associated fault traps related to reactivation of deeper faults. A major 2D seismic reprocessing effort of 1000km of vintage 2D is currently underway. Preliminary results indicate substantially better imaging of basement rift events, structural and fault definition and carbonate facies differentiation. Currently available data indicates at least 7 leads which collectively hold unrisked oil volumes in excess 120 MMBO. It is believed that additional 2D seismic reprocessing, supplemented with the acquisition of 800 km of new 2D seismic data, particularly in the poorly constrained western portion of the block, will greatly enhance the prospectivity in this highly underexplored block. Lundin seeks a strong partner to promote the costs of acquisition and processing of an 800 km of 2D seismic program. Post acquisition and processing would be on ground floor terms. A substantial equity is on offer for a full carry of the 2D seismic program.
