The Future of LNG in Asia Pacific

Steve Puckett

Abstract

Asia is no longer self-sufficient when it comes to gas and is likely to be about 50% import dependent by 2030. Pipeline gas imports increased sharply after 2012. There is still very little cross trade in Asia but pipeline gas from Iran to India, Turkmenistan to China, and Russia to NE Asia will radically change the market dynamics. Asia has large unconventional gas resource potential. There is also strong growth in LNG demand.
