Abstract
The Stacked-Channel Reservoir Sands of SE Asia (New Depositional Concepts and Implications for Reservoir Prediction)
Abstract
South East Asia has numerous sand reservoirs including fluvial sands in the post-rift portion of the Sunda Shelf. Some of the stacked-channel reservoir sands were deposited by back-filling of pre-existing channels. There is variable distribution throughout the post-rift succession. Fining-upward successions that mimic other channel types are seen in the reservoirs. It is difficult to recognize in core and impossible on logs. The thickness of the sand is independent of channel width and the sand body size and geometry are difficult to predict.
