Abstract:

The demise of Mukluk is forcing government and the oil industry into the most remote and hostile areas of Alaska at a more rapid rate than originally envisioned. Even giant fields may, in some circumstances, prove marginal or non-commercial. The unexplored offshore waters in the Arctic and the Bering Sea hold the greatest promise.
