ABSTRACT

Innovative modeling techniques were combined to generate a quantitative, realistic characterization of the eolian Jurassic Nugget Sandstone for an ongoing reservoir study. Dimensions of four different eolian stratification types, infilling cross-set frameworks derived from synthetic bed-form modeling, provided statistical parameters for conditional simulations. Permeability fields generated in the conditional simulation were scaled up for flow simulation in cross section and three-dimensional models. Sensitivities to geologic uncertainties and to conditional simulation parameters were studied. A representative geologic model, with appropriate delineation of reservoir heterogeneity for this field, was attained by matching historical performance of a field segment.
