Shale Tectonics: A Preface
Lesli J. Wood1

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
The author acknowledges the contributions that innumerable geoscientists interested in the study of shale tectonics have made to these discussions over the past decade. Although to list individuals would be unreasonable because of the space needs, the author is particularly indebted to the participants in the 2006 Hedberg Research Conference on Mobile Shale Basins, held in Port of Spain Trinidad, and its co-convenors, Richard Davies, Stanley Wharton, Curtis Archie, and Fazal Hosein. In addition, Andy Weinzaphel, Martin Jackson, Bruno Vendeville, and Mark Rowan are all thanked for their knowledge on salt and shale tectonics. Appreciation is extended to the AAPG for hosting several sessions in shale tectonics and mobile muds at their annual meetings, as well as support for this topic as a Hedberg Conference and the subsequent support for this publication. Angela McDonald and Ruarri Day-Stirrat are thanked for their reviews of this manuscript. Lana Dietrich is thanked for her professional editing skills.
