Abstract:

The shape-assist technique of computer Previous HitmappingTop enables a geologist to sketch the form or shape of a particular geologic feature, then use computer modeling to align that shape to the existing data. Long, narrow Morrowan-aged (Early Pennsylvanian) stream channels in Clark County, Kansas provide an excellent data source to demonstrate this technique. This method provides a quick way to incorporate the geologist's interpretation and the results can be used to accurately model related surfaces above and below the channel.
