Abstract:
About 400,000 pounds of U3O8 have been mined from two deposits in volcanic rocks near Lakeview, Oregon. The mines, and most smaller uranium concentrations near Lakeview, are in an area of about 100 sq mi. Geology and geochemistry at most of the mines and prospects indicate that the uranium was deposited from hydrothermal fluids related to the intrusion of peraluminous rhyolite.
