Abstract:
X-ray methods that are most pertinent to the study of sediments are described. A comparison of the interference spectrum of sediments by the powder method with that of the pure minerals can be applied to the identification of the mineral components of the clay fraction of the sediment. For this it is necessary to know the interference figures of the pure components. In connection with the description of the methods, the limits of knowledge are discussed.
