Abstract:

A generalized procedure for making regional stratigraphic studies using seismic data involves analysis of seismic sequences and seismic facies, which are interpreted from terminations and configurations of seismic reflections generated by sedimentary strata. Generalized steps in the procedure include (1) recognition, correlation, and age determination of seismic sequences; (2) recognition, mapping, and interpretation of seismic facies; and (3) regional analysis of relative changes of sea level.
