ABSTRACT

Deep-water lithofacies predictions were made in the Green Canyon area of offshore Louisiana using seismic facies analysis of 3-D data within a sequence stratigraphic framework. The versatility of the computer workstation and the high Previous HitlateralNext Hit Previous HitresolutionTop of the 3-D seismic data allowed us to identify stratigraphic boundaries and distinguish internal characteristics. Multiple flattened horizon slices were excellent for viewing the detailed geomorphic shapes and positions of depositional systems. Lithofacies maps of stratigraphic intervals were made quickly from seismic facies maps using volume attribute analysis and calibrated with well logs and selected seismic profiles.
