Stratigraphic Cross Sections through Jonah Field, Sublette County, Wyoming

Robert M. Cluff, Catherine M. Murphy

The Discovery Group, Inc., Denver, Colorado, U.S.A.

ABSTRACT

Two stratigraphic cross sections across Jonah field were prepared to illustrate the distribution of reservoir sandstone bodies and the high level of discontinuity between closely spaced wells. Both sections are hung on the base of the Tertiary Fort Union Formation, a relatively consistent marker. Correlations showing the top of the Lance Formation and the top of the Mesaverde Formation are also included, but there is far less agreement among industry geologists as to the exact placement of these stratigraphic horizons. The cross sections are included as large-scale Adobe Acrobatreg PDF files in this CD-ROM in Appendix B.
