Abstract
A Brief History of the Cache Valley Area, Northeastern Utah and Southeastern Idaho
Abstract
From Bear Lake Valley through Cache Valley, the Bear River connects a series of small valleys that developed somewhat independently after a common fur-trade history following their discoveries in 1812. Geologic features had a substantial impact upon traffic routes and settlement patterns in the area; Oregon/California Trail and Idaho/Utah railroad routes were affected and areas of conflict arose between Mormon and anti-Mormon communities that settled the area.
