Abstract
Paradox Oil and Gas Potential of the Ute Mountain Ute Indian Reservation: Phase II Geology/Seismic Study
Abstract
Determination of the potential to discover new Pennsylvanian Paradox Formation oil and gas within the Ute Mountain Ute Indian Reservation was conducted in a two-phase study. An earlier, Phase I, study of the Paradox Formation within the reservation set forth the depositional and paleostructural characteristics which controlled bioclastic/biogenic carbonate mound buildup. This report is the Phase II study, and provides the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe with an evaluation of oil and gas potential across the eastern three-fourths of the reservation. Based on available geological and seismic data, the study provides an integrated interpretation of objective Paradox and Mississippian stratigraphic and structural trends and leads on the reservation.
