Abstract
Technology moves quickly, and more information becomes available constantly. Many times, it’s free. We can make up-to-date, detailed maps at any scale and use them to prospect (photogeology), site a well, route a pipeline, or defend a lawsuit. We can do this for hard-to-reach places on the other side of the world and right here in the Permian Basin.
What things looked like decades ago (or just last week) can be critical. Tools for using this information for time- and money-saving prospecting (defining structure, mapping tonal anomalies, and finding oil) are already on the desktop. We’ll see actual real-world examples of time and money saved in Texas and in politically remote areas of the world.
