A Stochastic Modeling Workflow for Previous HitPetrophysicalNext Hit Interpretation of Spraberry-Wolfcamp Reservoirs

Abstract

Recent advances in fracture stimulation techniques along with strong oil prices have revived interest in the Spraberry-Wolfcamp formations in West Texas. These reservoirs are low porosity, low permeability rocks comprised of quartz, clays, and calcite along with significant quantities of dolomite, pyrite, and kerogen. The Previous HitpetrophysicalNext Hit Previous HitanalysisNext Hit of the Spraberry-Wolfcamp interval is analogous to that of unconventional shale plays like the Barnett formation. A workflow for a volume based interpretation of reservoirs with these characteristics will be shown. Then a typical well in the area will be selected and a stochastic model of the Spraberry-Wolfcamp interval will be generated that is calibrated to XRD Previous HitanalysisNext Hit of drill cuttings. This model will then be applied to other Previous HitwellsNext Hit in the trend to demonstrate the validity of the interpretation. The Previous HitanalysisTop of results will include comparison to production data.
