Abstract
Crosswell Seismic Imaging for Unconventional Resources
Abstract
As the oil and gas industry develops unconventional resources to meet the ever-increasing demand for energy, technology is needed for higher resolution reservoir characterization and for more precise monitoring of the processes used to unlock these unconventional resources. Crosswell seismic imaging is a technology that provides resolution of 3 to 10 feet that can resolve reservoir-scale features for better understanding of the underlying geology that impacts the recovery of unconventional resources. Additionally, time-lapse crosswell seismic can monitor EOR processes to measure the progress of an EOR project. Time-lapse crosswell seismic also can monitor the changes induced in hydraulic fracturing to provide information about the frac effectiveness to augment information provided in real-time with microseismic monitoring. Finally, crosswell seismic can provide calibration information to enhance the precision of microseismic monoitoring. This talk has an applications focus.
