Abstract

Unconventional reservoirs require unconventional and integrative approaches to unlock the critical characteristics of each reservoir type. Using a 3D seismic dataset from the Midland Basin, we illustrate the integration of seismic interpretation and pre-stack seismic inversion, petrophysics, geomechanics, reservoir facies architecture and sequence stratigraphy to assist with the unconventional exploitation of the eastern Midland Basin Wolfberry. This multi-disciplinary collaboration results in seismic volumes of classified lithofacies and geomechanical properties that fit the play and basin stratigraphic architecture, and is testimony to achieving full value from 3D seismic in an unconventional play.
