Abstract: Reservoir Problems of the Nolley Wolfcamp Waterflood Nolly (Wolfcamp) Field, Andrews County, Texas

H. H. Nguyen1

Abstract

Waterflooding at the Nolley Wolfcamp Unit has been technically unsuccessful. Even with the recent 20 acre infill drilling and a complete five-spot pattern realignment, the ultimate recovery is still at 20% OOIP. The following are Nolley Wolfcamp reservoir characteristics; oilwet, gravity unstable reservoir system, overpressurized, high conductivity, underproduced.

This discussion presents data which substantiate the above characteristics and describes the unique reservoir engineering problems associated with secondary recovery. Solutions to these problems are suggested from classic reservoir engineering and from simulation works. Results from successful field application of these solutions are also cited.
