Abstract
Sequence Stratigraphy Improves Definition of Reservoir Architecture at Avalon (Delaware) Field, Eddy County, New Mexico
Abstract
The integration of multiple geoscience data sets provided the basis for establishing an integrated, sequence-keyed, stratigraphic framework for Avalon (Delaware) Field. Similar stratal surfaces and depositional facies to those observed in Brushy Canyon and Cherry Canyon outcrops and on regional seismic are present in the Delaware Mountain Group siliciclastics of the Upper Brushy Canyon and Upper Cherry Canyon (Permian) reservoirs of the Avalon field. High-frequency sequence stratigraphy that was integrated with outcrop analogues, seismic, core, well logs (including mud logs and dipmeters), and petrography significantly enhanced the reservoir description of the Avalon field.
