Abstract
When reservoir scale
sequence
stratigraphy is combined with: 1) seismic stratigraphy to understand large scale to small-scale reservoir architecture; 2) core and log studies to reconstruct
depositional
environments; 3) petrophysical and diagenetic studies to understand reservoir pore systems and the fluids which fill the pores; 4) field production histories; and 5) field production testing, it becomes a very powerful tool in reservoir characterization.
Sequence
stratigraphic concepts utilized on various scales on the Grayburg Formation, from sequences, simple sequences, parasequence sets, parasequences, to individual beds and laminae, reveal how the hierarchy of
sequence
stratigraphy within a reservoir can exert a tremendous control on reservoir production.
