Application of Previous HitBoreholeNext Hit Imaging in Geologic Studies

Darrell L. Eubanks

Abstract

Electric and ultrasonic imaging tools record vast amounts of high-resolution data around the Previous HitboreholeNext Hit wall. This ability allows the geoscientist to describe, in detail, geologic features that are essential for stratigraphic and structural analyses and improved reservoir characterizations.

This study presents Previous HitexamplesNext Hit of Previous HitboreholeNext Hit images from a variety of formations that have been interpreted with assistance of a graphics workstation. These Previous HitexamplesNext Hit show how Previous HitboreholeNext Hit images can be used to measure dip magnitude and direction of formation beds, fractures, faults, and cross-bedding. Previous HitExamplesNext Hit of Previous HitboreholeTop images compared to cores illustrate how imaging data can be used to identify rock texture and other sedimentary features needed for detailed strati-graphic analysis and reservoir characterization.
