Systematics, Biostratigraphy and Paleoecology of Some Virgilian and Wolfcampian Fusulinids, Arrow Canyon Quadrangle, Clark County, Nevada

Alan T. Hill

Abstract

Wolfcampian fusulinids at Arrow Canyon and Dry Lake in the Arrow Canyon Range include Triticites creekensis Thompson and Schwagerina (?) multispira Thompson and Hazzard. Virgilian fusulinids in the northern part of the Las Vegas Range include Oketaella battleshipwashensis Bourque Triticites birdspringensis Cassity and Langenheim and T. muddiensis Cassity and Langenheim. The more fusiform P. utahensis and Triticites spp. are most abundant in rocks of microfacies 2 and 3 of Nowak and Carozzi (1973) which are thought to have been deposited on the crest and seaward face of oolitic or biocalcarenitic bars. In contrast, the more globose O. battleshipwashensis and S. (?) multispira are concentrated in the lagoonal microfacies, numbers 6, 7 and 8.
