Title: Glenmora Field, Rapides Parish, Louisiana

Author(s): Fred W. Bates (2), Robert R. Copeland, Jr. (2)

Abstract:

The Glenmora field, located along the deep Eocene Wilcox trend, was discovered by the Texas Pacific Coal and Oil Company in 1950. The location of the structure was a result of gravity-meter and later seismograph exploration conducted in 1947. The producing section lies more than 2,000 feet below the top of the Wilcox series, and presently consists of two main sand zones and several "stray" sands. The structure is a combination of a terrace-type feature and local sedimentary traps. Very little closure or reversal against normal regional south dip can be demonstrated. The productive area thus far established encloses approximately 500 acres, with an original total ultimate-recoverable reserve of about 2,250,000 barrels proved.
