Abstract:
Colorado reservoirs consist of strongly lenticular sands. Conventional methods of projecting well data to define the shape of the sands gave deceiving results. Studies of the sedimentary characteristics of the sands and assumptions about the processes of deposition show that the permeable sands are part of sediments deposited on a surface scoured in the underlying beds by currents. Maps of the scoured surfaces give a good indication of the sedimentary trends.
