Abstract:
Upper Devonian strata in the Swisshelm and Pedregosa mountains of southeasternmost Arizona are compared and correlated with the Martin limestone on the west and with the Percha, Contadero, Sly Gap, and Onate formations on the east. They constitute a link necessary for the biostratigraphic comparison of these formations, but they are more sandy than the other formations and belong to a different lithofacies. The name Swisshelm formation is suggested for these strata.
