Title: Great Basin Silurian to Lower Lower Devonian--a Biostratigraphic Case History: GEOLOGIC NOTES

Author(s): J. G. Johnson (2)

Abstract:

Biostratigraphic work in the Silurian and Devonian of the Great Basin has proved that less than half of the thickest combined sections of Roberts Mountains-Lone Mountain rocks are Silurian in age. The upper part of these combined formations is of Early Devonian age and much younger than any beds in the Laketown Dolomite. Eastern equivalents of the Roberts Mountains-Lone Mountain rocks are early Silurian in age and therefore considerably older than the western units.
