AUTHORS
Will Sager is a professor in the Departments of Oceanography and Geology and Geophysics and is the holder of the Jane and R. Ken Williams '45 Chair in Ocean Drilling Science, Technology, and Education at Texas AM University. He received a Ph.D. in geology and geophysics at the University of Hawaii and has spent the last 20 years at Texas AM teaching and researching marine geology and geophysics. Author of 75 refereed research papers, and advisor of 20 M.S. and Ph.D. graduates, he has participated in 36 oceanographic research cruises.
William Bryant is a professor of oceanography. He received an M.S. degree and a Ph.D. at the University of Chicago. He has spent the last 40 years at Texas AM University teaching and doing research in marine geology, high-resolution marine geophysics, and marine geotechnology. He was head of the Department of Oceanography from 1998 to 2000. He has worked in the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean, West Africa, the Arctic and Antarctic, and sailed all five of the Russian Polar Seas. He is the author of over 300 papers, co-editor of 1 book, and advisor of over 100 M.S. and Ph.D. graduates. He was co-chief scientist on Deep-Sea Drilling Program Leg 10, and scientist on Leg 96 and Ocean Drilling Program Legs 113 and 121.
Earl Doyle is an engineering consultant specializing in marine geoscience and geotechnical foundation design for marine structures. He received an M.S. degree in ocean engineering from the University of Rhode Island and is retired from Shell Oil Company where he was last involved in deep-water geohazard studies and the design of foundations for tension leg platforms. He authored or coauthored 47 papers and is a member of the Ocean Studies Board and the U.S. Science Advisory Committee for the Integrated Ocean Drilling Program.
