(A) Results from this study in which reflectance was measured on petrographically identified vitrinite (Ro) in coals and solid bitumen (BRo) in shales. (B) Results from studies by Lewan (1985, 1993a) in which the two trends were identified as Ro and suppressed-Ro trends. Oven temperatures are assumed to be accurate to ±1°C.
