The geographical location of the shelf margin of the three primary Zechstein carbonates within the United Kingdom Southern North Sea: the Z1 (Zechsteinkalk/Cadeby Formation), the Z2 (Hauptdolomit/Kirkham Abbey Formation), and the Z3 (Plattendolomit/Brotherton Formation). The extent of the Boulby Halite and the Fordon Halite Formations, which are key sealing formations within the Zechstein, are highlighted along with the location of current and offered CO2 appraisal and storage licenses and the location of the Zechstein well correlation panel in Figure 17. This figure contains information provided by the Oil and Gas Authority and other third parties (Fyfe and Underhill, 2023a, b).
