Examples of compartmentalized Rotliegend Group gas fields from (A) Indefatigable (McCrone et al., 2003), (B) Pickerill (de Jonge-Anderson and Underhill, 2022), and (C) York fields (de Jonge-Anderson et al., 2022), all of which were initially assumed to be single accumulations. Following seismic interpretation, drilling, and pressure testing, it became apparent there were multiple, fault-bound compartments with different gas–water contacts, meaning that they were effectively made up of several separate structures.
