ABSTRACT
Chalkley Field is a faulted, anticlinal structure located approximately 20 miles SSE of Lake Charles, La. The anticline is traversed by a series of regional growth faults and produces oil and gas from the middle and lower Miocene and upper Oligocene sediments.
The field was discovered in 1938 by Humble Oil Co. The discovery well was the Humble, Hanszen No. 2 in Section 9. The well was completed in the Planulina sand, with initial production rates of 8.2 Bbls of distillate per day and 857,000 cu ft of gas. Drilling activities at Chalkley Field have continued to the present time, with a total of 143 wells drilled to date.
