Abstract: Formation MicroImager(TM) for Calibration and Complete Utilization of 3-D Previous HitSeismicNext Hit in Exploitation

ABSTRACT

The Formation MicroImagerTM is a very affordable and easily interpreted open hole logging tool that enhances and completes 3-D Previous HitseismicNext Hit Previous HitinterpretationNext Hit.

Applications and utilizations incorporate geological, geophysical, and petrophysical parameters.

Geological utilizations are: dip Previous HitdataNext Hit, orientation of sand bodies, current direction at time of deposition, and a 'whole core' view of the borehole. Geophysical applications are: Previous HitinterpretationNext Hit of faults below the Previous HitseismicNext Hit Previous HitdataNext Hit resolution and calibration of the interpreted time-mapped structure. Petrophysical Previous HitinterpretationNext Hit uses are: thin bed resolution, sidewall core to open hole log calibration, geologic view of the 'rock' to the petrophysical interpreter, more accurate net pay counts, ability to recognize grain size changes, and corrected resistivity. Examples of the many applications of the Formation MicroImagerTM in conjunction with 3-D Previous HitseismicTop in field exploitation are used to illustrate the aforementioned areas of utilization.
