Abstract

Using the fractal concept, new type curves for analyzing pressure transient test data have been developed. In this model, effects of skin and wellbore storage are included. In developing the formulation, both skin and wellbore storage effects are included as the inner boundary conditions in the diffusivity equation of fractal reservoir.

Using the resulting formulation developed, several type curves have been generated for analyzing the interference test data, especially for the test in a geothermal reservoir. Compared with the conventional type curve, this new type curve is able to better match the observed pressure data, especially in the geothermal reservoir in which the naturally fracture is considered as a fractal media.

Using the new type curve, application has been performed for analyzing several interference tests data in Dieng (Central Java, Indonesia) Geothermal reservoir to obtain several important reservoir characteristics such as permeability, skin factor, transmissibility, storativity and fractal dimension of the medium. The results demonstrate the viability of the model in describing characteristics of the geothermal reservoir.
