Abstract
This geophysical study over two gas fields located in the West Natuna Basin is based on precise structural seismic interpretation, correlation mapping technique and seismic attribute analysis of a 3D data set.
The purpose of this study concerned a detailed understanding of the depositional environment and sand distribution.
To accomplish the goal of detecting variations in reflector characteristics, model driven correlation maps and attribute maps were generated.
The application of the correlation mapping technique made it possible to image not only very subtle changes in the seismic signature caused by faults, channels, sand bars etc. but also outlined GWCs accurately and guided the successive seismic attribute analysis. The combination of these tools demonstrated their potential strength to construct meaningful stratigraphic interpretation concepts.
The results of this study illustrated the lack of uniform continuous reservoir sands as originally expected and instead unveiled in great detail distributary channel fills, distributary mouth bars, point bars, crevasse subdelta etc. of relative limited extend.
These new conclusions will contribute directly to develop or re-adjust future development plans.
