GEOLOGY OF THE ORISKANY SANDSTONE IN THE HACKNEY FIELD, MORGAN COUNTY, OHIO: A GAS STORAGE PROJECT
ABSTRACT
The Devonian Oriskany Sandstone has produced approximately 5,090 MMCF of natural gas in the Hackney Field since 1971. Geological studies indicate that the Oriskany gas reservoir consists of clean beach-face sandstone flanked updip by dirty foreshore sandstone and downdip by clean dune ridge sandstone. The depleted area of the Oriskany reservoir covers approximately 2,112 acres which have been acquired by Hackney Partners for the purpose of developing a gas storage field.
