Note on the Texture of Some Pleistocene Sands: NOTES

Robert N. Schock

ABSTRACT

Twelve sand samples from the Pleistocene deposits of the upper Hudson River valley of New York State were investigated to determine the relationship between various types of environments and their statistical moment measures. It is believed that in most cases the environment of deposition can be determined by these measures. Only sorting shows a distinct departure from the values measured in modern sands of equivalent depositional environment.
