Rock Properties Computed from Random Pore Size Distribution

A. W. Talash, Paul B. Crawford

ABSTRACT

A mathematical procedure has been used to calculate the porosity and permeability of a porous matrix. The technique involves a solution of Poisseuille's and Darcy's equations across each pore and opening. The procedure uses a digital computer, random number generator, and an approximate range of pore diameters. The effect of using small samples in determining rock properties is also discussed.
